PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS

In the interest of the safety of our community and the ongoing efforts to fight this global pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to cancel summer programming through the end of 2020.

We are committed to rescheduling all of our residencies and outreach programs to a time next year when we are confident it will be safe to do so and will be working to reintegrate teachers into the program in the years to come.

Though we won’t get to convene at campus this year, we are thrilled that when we do gather again in 2021, it will be a joyous celebration of Pilchuck’s 50th Anniversary. Next year marks this incredible milestone in Pilchuck Glass School’s history and we are eagerly looking forward to inviting all of you to campus for this all-out celebration!

The entire educational team has been working to honor scholarships, reschedule instructors, and find spaces for artist residencies in future years. If you were involved in a cancelled session, please check your inbox for an email sent this morning (04-21) with more details.

UPDATED POLICIES TO OUR PROSPECTIVE 2020 PARTICIPANTS

We have extended deadlines and relaxed our cancellation policies to allow for flexibility in your planning. These changes are being communicated to our students, AAs, and TAs:

  1. If Pilchuck cancels any program (a singular course or session), we will notify participants 30 days in advance and they will receive a full refund, including deposit.
  2. Pilchuck has extended the decision deadline by an additional 2 weeks for students, offering a full 3 weeks from the date of their notification.
  3. We will change the student cancellation period from 30 days to 14 days for any COVID-19 related issues (illness, travel restrictions, etc.)
  4. We will include the $500 student tuition deposit in our refunds for any COVID-19 related cancellations (illness, travel restrictions, etc.)

PROACTIVE SAFETY MEASURES

Our entire team is taking additional safety precautions while implementing and continuously identifying best practices as we prepare to welcome participants to campus. Among these measures are procuring additional alcohol hand-sanitization stations throughout campus and disinfecting common surfaces multiple times each day.

TRAVEL INSURANCE REIMBURSEMENTS

For instructors, artists in residence, teaching assistants, and artist assistants, – We will reimburse 100% of the cost of travel insurance on airline tickets, provided you have purchased the option offered by your airline carrier and provide receipts.

For peace of mind, we do recommend students consider purchasing travel insurance.

TRAVEL BANS

As of this writing, the current travel ban from Europe to the United States is expected to expire on April 13th. Additionally, the USA and Canada have mutually agreed to close the border to non-essential travel. We will continue to monitor travel bans in advance of planned program start in June.
