Kitchen Coordinator

The Kitchen Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen at Pilchuck Glass School. Leading a crew of five assistants, the coordinator works closely with the Chefs to maintain timely meal service and a clean, well-stocked kitchen. The coordinator is the primary communicator for all food-related needs on campus and ensures that snack requests for events are efficiently managed. Additionally, the coordinator will assist with inventory management and pick up supplies and prepare food as directed by the Chefs.

Recommended Experience:

• Experience working in a kitchen environment
• Experience managing and motivating a team of peers
• Knowledge of food safety standards and best kitchen practices

General Outline of Tasks:

• Collaborate closely with the Chefs on kitchen operations and assist with food preparation
• Provide orientation and training for kitchen assistants
• Conduct orientation for all campus participants on day two of each session
• Delegate tasks to Kitchen Assistants to ensure timely meal service
• Drive to pick up food supplies for the kitchen (must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record)
• Handle food requests for campus events
• Reinforce food safety protocols verbally and through actions with all kitchen staff
• Lead by example, actively helping alongside Kitchen Assistants
• Ensure daily, weekly, and session checklists are updated and completed by the kitchen team
• Review service areas for proper signage and serving utensils, keeping Kitchen Assistants informed
• Ensure the kitchen and lodge are clean and well-stocked
• Assist with communication regarding dietary needs among campus participants
• Help manage inventory effectively
• Attend weekly seasonal staff meetings and kitchen meetings

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for the majority of the shift
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

Compensation:

• The Kitchen Coordinator position requires a minimum half-season commitment, with full-season availability preferred
• May work up to 40 hours per week at $20 per hour
• Room and board provided while on campus
