About Helmi Remes

Helmi Remes is an artist and designer who spent her childhood in Northern Finland, surrounded by fells and reindeer. Remes currently lives and works in Southern Finland as the Curator and Head of Creative projects for Nuutajärvi Glass. Remes' work emphasizes a simplified design and amplifies the innate properties of glass as a material. Remes has designed for Rosenthal, a German design company, and her works are represented in the permanent collections of museums across Europe and the Finnish State Art Collections. Her work was chosen as Finland's 100th anniversary art glass object in 2017.
