My two-part presentation will practically display the inserting of murrine sheet patterns and objects into liquid glass in kiln casting, and the making of the murrine for these sheet patterns. The casting demonstration will provide a step by step narrative of these methods, including the details of casting parameters, mould building methods, key temperatures and a discussion of the results of this technique. The murrine demonstration will include a display of the technique, along with a conversation on crossing the boundaries between casting and the hotshop.
