Translucency, opacity and sustainability: The shifting perceptions of narrative. In this lecture Tone Ørvik opens up the vast, rich narratives created by contemporary glass artists in cast glass and Pâte de Verre. She looks at how our beliefs and metaphors about glass have been shaped and invites us to examine our own perceptions about what glass art is and what it can do. From the perspective of transparency, translucency and opacity, she creates a framework for expanding our practice - investigating new techniques and different kinds of glass to serve the imperative of new narratives in a volatile world.
