Glass is the final step in an often long and laborious process that uses proxies and stand-ins along the way. The casting process is generally executed in 6 - 12 hours, but the steps to get the mold into the kiln and then the steps out of the kiln are rarely discussed. This presentation will aim to bookend the process of "glass casting," covering the weeks, maybe months, leading up to those six hours of casting, and then the days or months that follow.
