Campus Assistant

The Campus Assistant role is designed for an intermediate to advanced glass artist who thrives in dynamic environments. This position is recommended for glass art students in their final year of study or emerging artists with at least 4 to 5 sessions of experience on Summer Staff at Pilchuck. The Campus Assistant will rotate through various responsibilities across the campus, providing relief for studio staff and occasionally assisting in the kitchen or maintenance areas.

Recommended Experience:

  • Interest in glass art and a commitment to being part of an art school community
  • Excellent communication skills
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in various studios, either as Seasonal Staff at Pilchuck or in a similar educational environment
  • Strong work ethic and ability to be a collaborative team player

General Outline of Tasks:

  • Rotate through different roles on campus, including the store, kitchen, maintenance, driving, and all studios
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and assist with supply pickups or participant shuttling as scheduled
  • Monitor the safe use of equipment and tools in different studios when assigned
  • Serve as an event assistant for the student-to-student auction
  • Attend weekly staff meetings

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and navigating the rugged campus terrain

Compensation:

  • The Campus Assistant position is ideally a full-season commitment but may be shortened to 4 sessions in certain cases
  • May work up to, but not more than, 40 hours a week at $20 per hour
  • Room and board provided while on campus
