Angela McHale earned her B.F.A. from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2017 and her A.A.S. in Scientific Glass Technology from Salem Community College in 2021. Her work engages themes of feminine strength and environmental fragility, drawing inspiration from mythology and science as frameworks for understanding contemporary events. Angela finds inspiration in the close relationship between art and science within the field of flameworking. Through plasma light sculpture, she utilizes illumination as metaphor for the soul, while drawing parallels between the noble gases contained within her sculptures, the air we breathe and ecological change. Her complex, multi-chamber plasma vessels reflect the impact scientific glass training has made in her artworks. Currently, Angela is pursuing her M.F.A. at Tyler School of Art and Architecture.
