Orfeo Quagliata is a glass artist, designer and founder of Studio Orfeo Quagliata, based in Mexico City. The son of acclaimed glass artist Narcissus Quagliata, he began working with glass as a child, later apprenticing in Spain with José Fernández Castrillo and then studying industrial and furniture design at California College of the Arts, where he graduated with high distinction in 1997. That same year, he launched his first product with Nouvel Studio, the world-renowned Mexico City glass design house, where he continues to design product lines and glass objects today. His work bridges industrial design, artisan production and contemporary glass, ranging from jewelry, objects and collectible design to architectural installations and high-temperature kiln-formed experimentation.
