
Explore the art of reverse gilding and sign painting with Morgan Peterson. In this introductory workshop, students will learn traditional and contemporary sign painting and water gilding on glass. Topics will including water gilding with gold foil, painting techniques, and the application of special effect materials.
All materials and tools are provided, you need only bring your willingness to explore this timeless technique. Each student will leave with a small finished piece.
No previous experience is necessary. This workshop will include a 30min lunch break. Students may bring lunch or viist on the the nearby restaurants in Seattle's Pioneer Square.
Please note: This workshop is welcome to everyone ages 14+. Parents or guardians must sign up alongside participants under the age of 18.
Morgan Peterson graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design with a dual degree in 2006. Upon completion of her degrees, she relocated to Seattle, WA. United States, to pursue a career and continue her education and advancement in the arts. Morgan has worked for many notable artists, including Buster Simpson and Bruce Mau, and is a full-time team member for Dale Chihuly. She is heavily involved with Pratt Fine Arts and Pilchuck Glass School, not only as a member of the staff but also as an instructor. Her work has developed inside and outside these industrial spaces into a unique system of metaphor and imagery based on themes of satire through pop culture and addiction.
