This workshop covers the fundamentals of creating original designs and building them with leaded came and copper foil. Beyond design and technical instruction, this workshop will cover what most classes leave out: how to price work, photograph work, handle installation, reinforce panels and protect your designs. We will weave in decorative arts history throughout — not as background, but as a working resource. Understanding where this craft has been is part of knowing what's possible. The goal isn't mastery, it's the experience of moving through uncertainty toward a finished piece and gaining the confidence to keep making when the workshop is over.
Ted Ellison is the founder and principal designer of Theodore Ellison Designs, an architectural glass studio in Oakland, California. Over 25 years, he has built a practice around original leaded glass and mosaic installations for homeowners, architects and designers — work that has appeared in Architectural Digest, Fine Homebuilding and LUXE Interiors + Design. Ted's practice is grounded in early twentieth-century decorative arts traditions. His teaching draws directly from the methods and standards of his studio practice.
