At the engraving lathe, we will get to know the essential engraving tools and build confidence with stone and diamond wheels. In this workshop, we will explore how each wheel moves and how it changes the surface. We will work through the fundamentals step by step until the hand finds its rhythm and we begin to sense how the glass responds. Alongside classic wheel engraving, we will work with the battuto technique, creating rhythmic, geometric textures.
Born in 1973 in Venice, Italy, Matteo Seguso lives and works in Murano. In 1999, he inherited the passion for the glass from his father, Bruno. He approached this art as a game, but in 2006 the game transformed into love, so "Matteo Seguso engraver of art on glass" was born. In 2007, Matteo started a collaboration with Lino Tagliapietra which has allowed him to know the International Glass and another faces of cold working, grinding and technique of battuto. He collaborates with many important studios of Murano, with designers and artists of international renown. Matteo gives engraving and cold working classes in Italy, Australia at Canberra Glassworks, and in the United States at Pilchuck Glass School, Corning Museum of Glass, Pittsburg Glass Center and Urban Glass.
